Puerto Rico Hotel & Tourism Association Committee Chairs 2009-2010

PRHTA committees are composed of hard-working volunteers. They are the backbone of our organization and the means by which our goals can be accomplished. We encourage members to participate and support them.

 

Allied Committee

 

Forum for the discussion of issues of particular importance to Allied members. Presents recommendations and suggestions to the Association based on its broad expertise and experience.

Chair: Hamid Azize, Stage Crew Audiovisual

 

Association Governance Committee

 

Oversees issues and procedures related to the governance of the Association.

Chair: Paul Ferguson, Travel Services, Inc.

 

Casino Committee

 

Deals with all aspects and common issues of casino operations and legislation. Responsible for the development of casino personnel training.

Chair: Ismael Vega, Radisson Ambassador Plaza

 

Conservation Committee

 

Seeks ways to solve important issues affecting the tourism industry in environmental awareness, the control of stray animals and more, in coordination with other groups and organizations.

Chair: Ada Torres Ramírez, Business Wise

 

Human Resources and Education Committee

 

Works with members’ human resources representatives in issues such as salaries, benefits and the latest labor law legislation. Creates programs to improve professionalism of the tourism work force, particularly through the organization of seminars and through its relationship with educational institutions.

Executive Committee

Government Affairs Committee

 

Keeps abreast of legislation affecting the tourism industry. Develops and recommends legislation of benefit to the common interest.

Marketing Committee

 

Forum for the discussion and implementation of action aimed at improving our ability to market Puerto Rico as a visitor destination and to increase wholesalers' room nights production.

Restaurant Committee

 

Medium for restaurant members to explore those issues that can help them be more effective and profitable in their businesses.

Chair: Ariel Rodríguez, Augusto’s Cuisine

 

Small Inns Committee

 

Operators of small hotels and inns (1-75 rooms) meet to address issues and attend to areas of mutual concern.

Security Committee


Maintains direct communication with the police force in the tourism areas and otherstate and federal agencies.  Looks after the strengthening of the security to our visitors by means of monthly meetings to discuss special situations and alleviate potential problems.

Transportation Committee

 

Keeps up-to-date on situations affecting ground transportation. Recommends policies and procedures for the continuous improvement of this sector.

Porta Caribe Region

Holds regular meetings to discuss the needs and issues of the Porta Caribe region and its members.

Porta del Sol Region

 

Forum to meet the particular needs of members in the region and to address their concerns.

Vieques and Culebra Region

 

Gathers to discuss issues concerning this region and to monitor their development as it relates to tourism and hospitality.
