Initially the Scholarship Foundation for Hotel & Tourism Studies focused its program on the business and management skills needed by hotel managers. Later, the scope of available scholarships was broadened to include the culinary arts and casino management, as well as other skill sets necessary to run a contemporary hospitality related business. The complete effort has resulted in a changing of the guard at many hostelries and dining establishments on the island with a new generation of Scholarship Foundation alumni stepping up to the plate to assume key positions in our hospitality industry. The Scholarship Foundation (Fundacion de Becas para Estudios de Hoteleria y Turismo) is a non-profit organization formed in 1989 under the laws of Puerto Rico and benefits from a Federal tax exemption under section 501(c)(3) of the United States Internal Revenue Code.
