BUSTAMANTE TAKES THE REINS OF
PRHTA MARKETING COMMITTEE



Industry Veteran Raúl Bustamante Brings Vast Experience to Key Role in Tourism Development 
 
San Juan, December 22, 2010- Ismael Vega, president of the Board of Directors of the Puerto Rico Hotel & Tourism Association (PRHTA), has announced the designation of Raúl Bustamante, general manager of the Conrad Condado Plaza, as president of the Association’s Marketing Committee.
 
“It is an honor to be have Raúl Bustamante, along with this ample experience and leadership, direct such an important committee,” said Vega. “We are confident of the achievements that he will continue to expand upon toward the development of mechanisms that promote Puerto Rico as the best tourism destination in the Caribbean,” he added.
 
Bustamante has served the hospitality industry for more than 30 years. He was a member of PRHTA’s Board of Directors from 1996 to 1998 and president of the Board of the Puerto Rico Convention Bureau from 2001 to 2005, where he actively participated in strategizing marketing efforts for the Puerto Rico Convention Center. 
The general manager also presided over the Puerto Rico Chamber of Commerce’s Tourism Committee and the Board of Directors. Bustamante has also represented the Governor of Puerto Rico and the Mayor of San Juan in a number of boards of directors and served as vice president of the Puerto Rico Tourism Company’s Board of Directors until April of 2006. 
 
PRHTA President & CEO Clarisa Jiménez expressed that “Raúl’s trajectory and commitment to the hospitality industry will be of great benefit to the Marketing Committee. We welcome him and commit to collaborating with him on whatever is necessary.”
 
Importance of PRHTA Marketing Committee
The Marketing Committee serves as a forum for the discussion, development and implementation of plans of action aimed at improving the ability to promote Puerto Rico as a tourist destination. The programs developed by the Committee are designed to benefit all PRHTA members and are open to all members. The Committee enjoys representation from the Tourism Company, Puerto Rico Convention Bureau, the Convention Center and the private sector.
